Zynga gobbling up OMGPOP

Update at 12:27 p.m. PT: Zynga has indeed acquired OMGPOP but didn't disclose terms. AllThingsD's Peter Kafka reported that Zynga paid $180 million plus another $30 million in employee-retention payments.

It's looking like all the rumors surrounding Zynga and OMGPOP were true.

Zynga has acquired OMGPOP for $200 million, All Things Digital is reporting today, citing unnamed sources. Zynga rumored to acquire Draw Something maker OMGPOP

Rumor has it that game maker Zynga is in the running to buy the company OMGPOP, which makes the newest chart-topping game Draw Something.

If the acquisition goes through, it will be Zynga's biggest buyout to date, according the tech news site TechCrunch, which spoke to sources with direct knowledge of discussions between the two companies.

Draw Something lets you draw with friends

Draw Something (iOS | Android) offers turn-based gameplay that brings friends together as teammates to draw basic items (and sometimes more-complex ones) to see how long they can continue to guess each others' drawings correctly.

Mobile payment service Zong expands to subscriptions

Mobile payment start-up Zong is extending its product to include subscription-based services, the company announced Tuesday.

Gaming site OMGPOP and News Corp.-owned photo-sharing site Photobucket have signed on as launch partners.

So here's what this means: instead of entering credit card billing information, subscribers to OMGPOP and Photobucket can bill their subscriptions directly to their phone bills by entering their cell phone numbers and then responding to a confirmation code. Previously, the Zong service could only be used for one-at-a-time micropayments rather than subscription-based services.
