When I first put on a Pebble smartwatch shortly after it was made available at Best Buy, I was excited. The thought of being able to leave my phone in my coat pocket, or in another room, and receiving alerts on my wrist was very appealing. Quickly I realized the watch only lived up to half of the hype I had built up in my mind. As someone who switches back and forth between iOS and Android on a nearly weekly, sometimes daily, basis, it didn't take a long time for me to see there were plenty of shortcomings … Read more

A federal judge has dismissed a privacy lawsuit that accused Apple off improperly collecting and sharing customers' personal information.
The suit, filed in 2011, accused Apple of violating privacy laws by transmitting a log of user locations collected via iPhone to third parties without user consent, even if customers had turned off geolocation capabilities. The plaintiffs also claimed they had paid more for their iPhones than they would have had they been aware of the data Apple was collecting.
However, US District Court Judge Lucy Koh found that the plaintiffs failed to prove they that had been taken in by … Read more
Night mode, ah yes, that dark colored theme apps have adapted over the years that make it easier to read text in a dark environment. Instead of offering a white background, which is brighter in a dark setting, a dark background is easy on the eyes.
Tapbots launched Tweetbot 3 shortly after iOS 7 launched, and one of the missing "features" was a night theme. After some patience and hard work, an update was released on Wednesday bringing a pretty slick night theme to the app.
You'll need to grab the latest version from the App Store, … Read more

Going beyond custom alerts for various events on your Pebble watch, one of the more fun uses for the Pebble smartwatch is the ability to create and use custom watch faces. Up until now, iOS users have had to rely on browsing watch faces using Safari. The process is a bit tedious and it's easy to forget where you saw a particular watch face. Enter MyPebbleFaces.
