Yes, almost every Subaru model that you can buy today comes equipped standard with the automaker's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system (only the rear-driven BRZ does not). However, you may not know that not all Symmetrical AWD systems are created equal. Despite sharing the same name, there are at least four different all-wheel-drive systems in use today.
The standard viscous coupling First up is the system that most people tend to think of when the subject of Symmetrical AWD comes up. Found in most of Subaru's vehicles equipped with a manual transmission, the system that we'll call "… Read more
OneDrive users who sign in fast enough can score plenty of free storage for the next year.
Microsoft will dole out 100GB of extra space to the first 100,000 people who sign onto their OneDrive accounts once the new promotion gets off the ground sometime on Wednesday. The extra space comes on top of your existing OneDrive (formerly SkyDrive) storage, but is good just for one year.
Angus Logan, the group product marketing manager for OneDrive, confirmed the promotion to CNET but didn't reveal a specific launch time. OneDrive users who want to vie for the free storage … Read more
Over the years, critics occasionally -- and justifiably -- slammed Microsoft for cramming too many features into its software. But could that ingrained habit yet work to Microsoft's advantage as it relaunches its consumer cloud storage service in a young market that's up for grabs?
Microsoft on Wednesday officially announced the global availability of its rebranded cloud storage service OneDrive. Microsoft originally called the service SkyDrive but was forced to rebrand after British Sky Broadcasting, the biggest pay-television broadcaster in the United Kingdom, sued and won a trademark lawsuit over use of the name.
Besides the new markings, … Read more

Google may have the best-known driverless vehicles, but the US Army surely has the largest.
Defense industry heavyweight Lockheed Martin said Thursday that testing has wrapped up on a series of advanced tests in the Autonomous Mobility Appliqué System (AMAS) program for the US Army and US Marine Corps. The testing, Lockheed said, showed that fully autonomous convoys can operate in urban environments and with a mixture of vehicle types.
What challenges did these driverless vehicles face? The trucks had to navigate road intersections, oncoming traffic, stalled and passing vehicles, pedestrians, and traffic circles in test areas both rural … Read more
Flash drives are little more than external solid-state drives. Consequently, they're awesome for expanding the available storage on devices like Ultrabooks, hybrid PCs, tablets, and even smartphones (by way of USB To Go).
For example, if you snagged one of those $169 or $179 Surface RT tablets the other day, you'll quickly find that only about half of its 32GB of storage is actually accessible. (Boo, Microsoft. Booooo!) Easy fix: pop in a flash drive.

Microsoft's SkyDrive won't be around much longer -- at least, not by that name.
SkyDrive, the software company's cloud-based storage service, will soon be called OneDrive, Microsoft General Manager for Consumer Apps and Services Ryan Gavin announced Monday.
The move comes several months after a British court ruled that Microsoft's use of the SkyDrive name was infringing on a trademark owned by British Sky Broadcasting (BSkyB) Group's Sky trademark. Rather than continue to battle it out in court, Microsoft decided it was time to change the service's name.
Gavin acknowledged that the BSkyB dispute … Read more
