Argentina, here we come

It's official. Mark Shuttleworth (Ubuntu) and I are going to be in Buenos Aires on August 14 through 15. I'm corresponding with several of you about putting together a community event there (or more). Mark is obviously the big draw, so let's put together some cool gatherings to welcome him to Argentina. (I also have some business meetings planned with an Alfresco partner during the days, but there should be time for community events.)

Argentina considering going 100% open source

Argentina's congress is actively considering a bill that would require all government offices to use open-source software. It's partly a cost-saving move, and partly a way to bring the Argentine government into compliance with its software licensing:

The measure is sponsored by representative Marcelo Drag?n as part of a national campaign against rampant software piracy in the South American country....

Off-topic: They really work hard in Argentina

I don't know about the rest of Latin America, but here in Argentina, people work hard. Sometimes as much as 25 hours each day, if this sign is to be believed. :-)

I tried staying up to prove it out, but since MTV is only on 23 hours per day (Unfortunately, the bus went by too fast for me to snap a picture of the sign on it stating MTV's hours), I fell asleep two hours shy of my goal.
