Report: Intel will add fast quad-core chip

Intel will introduce the Q9650 Core 2 Quad processor in the third quarter, according to Chinese-language Web site HKEPC, almost halving the price of the current high-end Intel part with similar specifications.

The Q9650 will be priced at $530, according to HKEPC, close to half the price of the similarly spec'd high-end "Extreme" QX9650, which is listed at $999 on Intel's pricing Web page.

Like the QX9650, the Q9650 will have a clock speed of 3GHz, a 1333MHz front-side bus (FSB), and 12MB of cache memory.

Nokia's Luna: A stylish slider made of glass

Nokia today announced the Nokia 8600 Luna, a new luxury slider handset that combines a soft-touch stainless steel body with a layer of smoked glass. When closed, you can see the illuminated keypad glow and pulsate underneath the glass. Named after the goddess of moonlight, the Luna's features aren't too shabby either--quad-band GSM support, a 2-megapixel camera, a music player, Bluetooth, and a stunning display.

Alltel announces the LG AX8600

Alltel has just announced the latest addition to its lineup, a sexy music flip phone it has dubbed the LG AX8600. The phone is almost identical to its Verizon counterpart, the LG VX8600, except that the LG AX8600 comes in marine blue, shimmering gold, and apple green.
