If you're not thrilled with the trend toward sandwich-board TV stands, you might want to consider something like this recent addition to Sony's Bravia line of LCD sets. The new Esprit TAV-L1 is built with a sliding decorative panel that hides a 32-inch TV behind it, in a variety of designs to suit your decor. Sony says the Esprit, which is available only in Europe at present, "fused cutting-edge European interior trends with the best of Sony's exclusive sound and vision technology." We like Chip Chick's description a lot better: "A force to … Read more
While other companies are trying to cram as many functions as possible into a single device, ASUS is going in the other direction with one of its newest creations. The "XG Station" claims to be the first external graphics card unit for laptops. What does that mean? According to Fareastgizmos, lab experiments showed 9 times faster graphics acceleration. That's probably from the company's literature, but it's still an interesting idea even if the device is mistaken for a dashboard radio hooked up to your computer.

Old Toyota: reliable and practical cars with decent gas mileage for the commuting set.
New Toyota: the Prius, the FJ Cruiser, hybrid Camry, hybrid Highlander and soon...a hybrid sports car.
The FT-HS concept car is meant to be a sample of mid-priced hybrid sports car with ultra-low emissions and fuel efficiency, according to Toyota.
The front-engine rear-drive car would have a V6 3.5-liter engine, putting out approximately 400 horsepower when coupled with the hybrid system, and be able to do zero-to-sixty in four seconds.
Not sure of the look? Well those "aero-corners" on the body that … Read more
I wish I had a little yellow submarine that I could putz around in. Motorized would be optimal, but I could even deal with foot pedals, as long as it's a submarine and it's yellow. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find one within my price range, nor a piece of dock space where I could keep it securely stored, so I guess I will have to settle for this, which was featured on ShinyShiny. It's a fully-functional FM radio with a waterproof speaker, is powered by four AAA batteries, and it's designed to float … Read more

If a thermos really does mean true love, then get The Jerk in your life one to keep coffee hotter longer, but not actually scald.
According to Jolex, its Brugo thermos has a chamber that adjusts your coffee to an ideal sipping temp before it reaches your lips. Double-walled insulation keeps the rest of the coffee hot, until your next sip.
The $20 Brugo coffee thermos, which comes in an array of colors, is also spill proof.

A bunch of the blogs (Gizmodo, BornRich) have been featuring the Aussie audio company VAF's latest endeavor, which looks like a piece of wall decor out of a Design Within Reach catalog but is actually a very impressive set of speakers. Each side is about two feet long, and they protrude barely five inches from the wall. When they're released in March, they will apparently come in a variety of colors. Neat, huh?
But I've got a bone to pick with VAF's presentation of their cool new product. I mean, come on. We're sharp-eyed here … Read more
