Belkin says 'no' to the USB hokey-pokey

Most desktop and laptop PCs have, at most, four USB ports for peripherals such as cameras, hard drives, and printers, but most of us have more than four peripherals to connect to our PCs. So we're all familiar with the USB hokey-pokey: you put your camera USB in, you take the printer USB out, your put the thumbdrive USB in, and your cords get tangled about. So not fun. Today, Belkin announced four new USB hubs that let you keep all your peripherals connected and that don't block adjacent USB ports.

The $30 Swivel Hub is a 4-to-1 … Read more

It's not the most surprising announcement at E3, but it certainly is one of the most anticipated by Nintendo fans. Nintendo just announced Mario Kart Wii. Nintendo's seminal arcade racer is finally bringing its shell-slinging, kart-driving action to the Wii. While Nintendo has been pretty quiet about Mario Kart Wii, it's safe to say that the game will let you play as Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, or any other number of Nintendo characters across a number of Mario-themed tracks. At Nintendo's press conference today, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime cryptically said, "More racers mean more … Read more

Sweet deal of the day

Yesterday, DAPreview reported some astonishing new pricing for Creative's Zen V line of MP3 players. I headed over to Creative's U.S. site to investigate for myself and discovered that this is indeed a fact. Since the line's release in June of last year, the Zen Vs have dropped an average of 35 percent, while the Zen V Pluses have enjoyed a 22 percent to 43 percent price drop (depending on capacity). The big steal at the moment? The 4GB players, which clock in at $99.99 for the Zen V and $109.99 for the Zen V Plus. … Read more

Wii Zapper announced; Wii 'Duck Hunt' not far behind?

Over a year ago, before the Wii was even released, we reported the possibility of a gun accessory for the Wiimote. Well, Nintendo finally announced one, and it's...not quite what we expected.

The Wii Zapper looks more like a Star Trek phaser rifle than the pistol we saw 14 months ago. The curvy, simplified white gun holds both the remote and nunchuck attachment in place, with the remote's B and nunchuck's Z buttons fixed like triggers on the device. It's clearly intended for two-hand use, with the front hand controlling the remote and the back … Read more
