Football and baseball on your iPhone

by Dave Phillips

The baseball pennant race is closing in and football is about to start, so what could be better than up-to-the minute info on your favorite sports team on your iPhone?

Fumbleview is an iPhone application that keeps real-time track of your NFL team's games as they fight through the season. You will see up-to-the-minute plays, and all you have to do is pick your team from the drop-down list to get in on the action. With the football season only a couple of weeks away, this one will be a hit.

Pickleview is a similar application that covers Major League Baseball and shows a baseball diamond with live graphics of on-base runners and pitch counts. Simply go to Pickleview or Fumbleview on your iPhone to check out these applications. A game has to be in progress for you to appreciate the power of these applications.

Adidas branded Samsung sports phone

The rumors are literally running around Europe that Samsung will make an Adidas branded phone with a heart-rate monitor that is linked to the phones' music application. The phone is supposed to be loaded with a calorie counter, pedometer and a virtual personal trainer to keep you in tip top shape.

Other major brands like Armani and Prada have developed customized phones so it may make sense for Adidas, especially as Samsung is also an official sponsor of the next Olympic Games. Nike already has a connection with the Apple and the iPod, so who knows, maybe we will see a Nike branded iPhone in the future.

Only problem is the rumors are in Europe which means we may never see this little piece of tech in the USA.

iPhone keeps your golf score

If you just can't figure out how to use that pencil that comes with your golf scorecard, or your handwriting is not quite up to par, then there's always the iPhone golf scorecard.

This application allows you to keep scores for up to four players. You simply tap the names of your foursome into your iPhone and then tap in the corresponding scores. Your iPhone keeps everything nice and neat. Then just add up your score at the end of the round.

If you are the ultimate iPhone geek (and an avid golfer), this is the application for you. Fire up your Safari browser, and log on to iphone18.

iphone sport armband

If you plan to make the iphone your only gadget, then you may need the iphone sports armband from Belkin.

The ultra-comfortable Sport Armband is hand-washable and water-resistant. It gives you easy navigation access to your iPhone and minimizes bulk on your arm. This is the best looking one I have seen for use during your workout.

The flood of iphone accessories is probably only weeks away, so you may want to wait a little longer but for $29.99 this one is pretty good.

All the software developers are working overtime to come up with cool applications for the iphone.

This one brought to us by www.albinoblacksheep.com allows you to keep track of scores for Major league baseball, NFL football, NBA and WNBA basketball, MLS Soccer and the NHL.

Now you could always use your cool Safari browser and go to ESPN or one of the other sports sites but I like this application it's simple and looks great on the iphone.

Myphone or the iphone

by Dave Phillips
  • Post a comment

I am just about done with the Apple iphone and all the free publicity it is getting. The fact that people waited outside Apple stores for days shows how valuable eBay has become, the iphone showed up almost immediately with some joker paying $12500.00 for one.

Does anyone know that cell phone service in most third world countries is better than the USA? Wake up people, the rest of the world is laughing at us. The cell phone companies need to stop holding technology from us and controlling what we can and can't buy. In Europe you can buy any phone unlocked, simply plug in your sim card and away you go, but on our home soil you are held hostage by the service providers. Nokia makes some of the most advanced cell phones in the industry, and is one of the largest makers of cell phones worldwide, but they are practically nonexistent in the US market due to the lack of support from the carriers, who lock you into contracts and then have the gall to demand their piece of the phone as well.

The iphone is without a doubt a great piece of technology it is just a shame that when it hits the rest of the world they will get to enjoy the full capability of this product and we won't.

Now, if I was making a phone, these are some features that myphone would have. A video camera that records full motion video at 30 frames per second and gives you the ability to shoot high quality still pictures as well. Some kind of analysis software that enables you to use the video that you have taken and review it in slow motion on your phone or on your PC when you get back to your home or office. A link to a virtual physician that can give you medical advice in case of an emergency, as well as access to a service like Skype that allows you to make phone calls through the internet connection on your phone with live video. Oh and myphone would also work on any network and I would be happy to sell it on eBay for $11500.00 if that guy who bought the iphone is interested.
