False demand
So they can only ship 300,000 to Europe in the first release, but
expect to have sold 3,000,000 in the first three months.

If I've ever heard of false demand created to hype the thing at
Christmas, This is the perfect example of it.

Anyway, I think I'll wait till Microsoft finally figure out how to
produce a power supply that isn't likely to burn down my house!

Use string
Suspend the power supply off the flooor with string so it does not overheat.

Also, the numbers in the article don't mean anything to me without something to compare them against.

How many consoles did xbox, ps2, gamecube, or anything else sell in the first 3 months after launch?

I have no metric for this information.

3M is around the world
The million number is for around the world. If 300k is the number for Europe, one can guess that US got double that and the rest of the world will get another 300k, that would be 1.2M. Now there are two more months to go, 3M is not that far out.

3M
MS is going to sell 3M consoles because they can only make that
many in that timeframe. 3 months extra would have created a
good stock for this console, its rushed to the market.

All these hardware failures for a mere 600.000 consoles is a lot,
i have serious questions about the quality control and knowingly
trowing bad hardware on the market. MS knew about these
problems but wanted to make the deadline.
