This week, CNET's Robert Vamosi talks about the current state of cybercrime with Dave Marcus, security research and communications manager for McAfee Avert Labs. McAfee has just released its third annual report on cybercrime. Entitled, "Virtual Criminology Report, Cybercrime: the Next Wave," the report looks at cybercrime trends within the last 12 months and finds a disturbing proliferation, not only in the number of attacks, but in the methods used.

For example, in some cases, thieves model legitimate software vendors by offering support contracts or automatic upgrades for the Trojan horse or malware they produce. And computer thieves aren't just teenage thugs sitting off in some corner of the world stealing credit cards; they can also be state-sponsored intelligence organizations.
