Richard Wirt, general manager of Intel's Software and Solutions Group, presented his view of the coming world of corporate computing in a
speech Aug. 16 at the LinuxWorld Conference and Expo in San Francisco.
Wirt sees a three-layer arrangement,
with virtualized computing resources as the foundation, a
services-oriented architecture of software above it, and actual business
transaction software at the top. Spanning all three layers is technology
to provide and enforce security, administer policies such as process
reponse time, and manage the computing equipment.
