San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom toured the home Friday. Only several residences in the city feature wind turbines, but he hopes to help to change that.
"This will be the baseline," Newsom said of the dwelling's renewable-energy features.
Talking with a handful of "green" bloggers, the mayor announced that the city will set up a "strike force" of business and government leaders to discuss how to encourage more homeowners to install wind turbines. Along similar lines, the city's solar incentive program, which could become the largest rebate offer of its kind in the nation, has stalled politically in recent weeks.
