At the close of the show, many thousands of display products were wrapped up in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard--a seeming contrast to companies' bold, green pitches. Scores of Salvation Army workers waited near the doors of the show floor to haul away tons of goods donated by exhibitors for eventual distribution to the nonprofit's resale stores. A volunteer from the local White Elephant resale shop of Children's Memorial Hospital initiated cardboard recycling last year.
