Design company Haworth has been awarded a gold rating for leadership in energy and environmental design (LEED) from the United States Green Building Council. The council gives the ratings to buildings for qualities such as energy efficiency, and for use of sustainable, recycled, and recyclable materials.
With its new Park Avenue showroom in Manhattan, the company is showing that an eco-friendly work space doesn't have to be drab or lacking in style. And it's demonstrating that by using its own products, in its own New York City work space, which serves about 50 employees.
Walls are lined with natural stone, and the showroom floors are made of cork finished in white and white stone.
