New York City's iconic Christmas tree this year is not only using all LED lighting for the first time, but that lighting is powered by solar panels as part of a refurbishing at Rockefeller Center to conserve energy.
And the green efforts don't end with the lighting of the tree. The tree itself was cut down by a handsaw to reduce pollution. At the end of the holiday season, the tree will be made into lumber to be used by Habitat for Humanity.
