Photos: Cities go green

Cities are eager to brandish their "green" images. The city of Boston was one of the first customers of BigBellySolar's trash compactor, which is powered by a solar panel on the roof.

The main customers for these green trash cans have been municipalities and universities. There are so many solar trash cans in Davis Square in Somerville, Mass., that BigBellySolar employees call it their Stonehenge.
