Photos: A century of tanks

This Gulf War-era Iraqi Army T72M1 main battle tank was built by the Soviets and captured by the American 1st Battalion, 37th Armor Regiment, 1st Infantry Division (Mechanized) during the very first hours of that war in 1991. It was taken to the U.S. for study because of what was seen as an irregular configuration of exhaust piping. It was given to the Patton museum in 1992.
