Toshiba has contracted with UPS, which handles the parts distribution and the repairs and returns side of the computer company's laptop business.
Each week, the facility processes about 1,500 laptops that have been sent in by customers for repairs, as well as about 2,500 laptops that customers have returned to retailers. Those machines, while still new, must be checked out to be sure they're in shape to be sold as refurbished models.
