The Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB), where the space shuttles are built, is one of the largest buildings in the world.
It covers about 8 acres and, according to NASA, has a volume of more than 129 million cubic feet. It is 525 feet tall, 716 feet long, and 518 feet wide. NASA conducts shuttle main-engine maintenance in a low-ceiling area known as the low bay, which has a ceiling height of 210 feet.
The full shuttle is assembled in the high bay, which rises to the building's full 525 feet height.
