Earthships, which can maintain a comfortable interior temperature regardless of how hot or cold it is outside, currently exist in every U.S. state and in several other countries. The earthship here is part of the Earthship World Community near Taos, N.M., and it will be the first earthship completed in what is a reclaimed gravel pit on the community's land.
