This is a replica of the weapon casing of Fat Man, the code name for the atomic bomb dropped on Nagasaki, Japan, on August 9, 1945. The second and final atomic bomb ever used in war, it completely destroyed more than 2 square miles and is estimated to have killed approximately 45,000 people instantly. The bomb was dropped by a B-29 Superfortress named Bockscar, which was piloted by U.S. Army Air Force Maj. Charles Sweeney. It was 10 feet 8 inches long, weighed 10,800 pounds and yielded a force equal to 20 kilotons.
