The B-29A Superfortress was one of the most successful bombers in American history. It was also one of the most technologically advanced for its time, introducing pressurized cabins and centralized fire control for defensive armaments. The planes that dropped atomic bombs on Japan were B-29 Superfortresses. There were approximately 4,000 built.
