The Hualapai Nation of Arizona built the Grand Canyon Skywalk at Grand Canyon West as a way to draw tourists to the location. Built in collaboration with a Chinese investor, the project is now approximately tripling the number of people who visit each day.

The Skywalk allows visitors to walk out and into the Grand Canyon, peering through the glass floor down at the canyon, or over the bridge's glass walls into the valley beyond and below. The Skywalk is said to be able to hold the equivalent weight of dozens of Boeing 747s.
