Venture capitalist Tom Perkins' Maltese Falcon, said to be the world's largest and fastest sailing yacht, has been docked at Pier 35 in San Francisco for several days. The yacht, which was built in Turkey and features new hydraulics technology, arrived in the Bay Area on September 27 and since then has been anchored off Sausalito, across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco.

On Wednesday, the boat is scheduled to embark for an unknown destination and CNET News reporter Daniel Terdiman managed to capture some images of the preparations for that departure. The yacht is 287 feet long and has 187-feet-tall masts that tower high above the boat's body. Its unusual look and massive size attracts a constant stream of tourists and photographers.
