Flying below and to the right of us, Polak did not look ahead of him. Instead, he would look directly at Goetze, who was flying lead. In formation flight, the trailing pilot always looks at the leader in order to be able to react as fast as possible to whatever the leader does, be it a turn to the opposite direction or to give a direction of something else to do.
