On Saturday, Joe Bennis in the ElectraFlyer-C electric-powered aircraft buzzed the Oshkosh crowd. The e-plane flies at 70 mph, stalls at 45 mph, and has a top speed of 90 mph--plus a flight duration of 1.5 hours. The custom-built lithium polymer battery pack can be fully recharged in two hours with a 220-volt charger, and six hours with a 110-volt charger at a cost of 70 cents (with the 110-volt charger).

Randall Fishman of Cliffside Park, N.J., won the 2008 Dr. August Raspet Memorial Award at the show for his design of the ElectraFlyer-C.
