The multifunction display system in the UH-60M Black Hawk can show more than maps--it can switch among pilot instrumentation, advisories, and calculator (for quick determinations of, say, fuel burn rate in changing conditions). In addition, a series of sensors feeds the aircraft's Integrated Vehicle Health Management System. "If it rotates, gyrates, vibrates, it's been processed by the IVHMS and can be downloaded and extracted," McNeill said in the Army News Service story. "To do my routine maintenance balancing adjustments, all I have to do is hit buttons and the computers come up with vibration diagnostics, so I no longer have to bring ancillary gear; the aircraft will do a self-diagnosis."
