"I was almost 5 years old when Buzz Aldrin walked on the moon. It was July 20, 1969, and I was 'helping' my father paint my bedroom in Phoenix, Ariz. He had the TV on, undoubtedly black and white, and we were watching the video transmission. I couldn't really grasp what was going on, but my dad's reaction signaled to me how significant it was. It's one of the earliest memories I have of spending time with my father (and one of the few times we weren't just watching football)."
