This building houses the control center and repair area for the Submillimeter Array, which explores the universe by detecting light of colors invisible to the human eye. It's operated by the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory and Taiwan's Academia Sinica Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics. The Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, in turn, is affiliated with Harvard University and the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics.
