Mascoma founder Lee Lynd checks out the company's experimental ethanol facility. Cellulosic ethanol involves making ethanol out of waste products and, in most cases, exploiting microbes, which rarely join labor unions, to turn forest waste into alcohol. Expect major plants to begin opening in the next few years. Venture capitalists are going bonkers over cellulosic.
