On Friday, the only climber to make it to the top of the 200 foot tether was the University of Michigan's. All the other challengers weren't able to overcome weather that caused the tether to twist in the wind. Although the University of Michigan's climber reached the top of the tether, it did not finish in time to win the prize money. The Space Elevator competition was extended from its initial two-day time frame to three days, to accommodate for delays.
