Photos: Hurricane Hunters fly into Ike

From the cockpit of a WC-130J, the pilot gets a look at the eye wall of Hurricane Ike. The planes don't just fly over the storm; they also fly directly through the eye, every three hours. Crews have had little opportunity for rest in the last several weeks, having also been busy with hurricanes Gustav and Hanna.
