Each pontoon has a propeller that is attached to the rear but can be swapped for a different propulsion system--to jets, for example. The engine can also be changed from from gas to diesel. The pontoons carry tanks inside, which can store up to 2,000 gallons of fuel, enough to last 5,000 miles and cross an ocean.
