Peter Homer, an aerospace engineer, won $200,000 from NASA earlier this year as part of the space agency's Centennial Challenge to build a next-generation glove for astronauts. Homer designed and developed such a glove with hand-sewn stitching that provides better dexterity to astronauts dressed in highly pressured suits, which typically restrict hand movement. Homer, who demonstrated the Dacron-fabric glove here, said he plans to create a more sophisticated outer glove (as opposed to the inner glove pictured) for next year's glove challenge.
