RP-7 pays a visit to patient Jackie Cruz to check on her condition as Mark Blankenship, director of surgical services, watches. In addition to using visual and voice technologies, the physician at the control station can access patients' medical records, giving the doctor all the necessary information to conduct a medical consultation.
The RP-7 robot was acquired as part of ongoing improvements in technology and infrastructure to the Healdsburg District Hospital. Maggie and Harry Wetzel were the lead donors to the campaign, which includes the construction of the Wetzel Family Emergency Department, planned to open later this summer. When completed, the Remote Presence Robot will be a critical tool in the new emergency department and in the ICU.
