The PC-BOT, which runs on batteries, won the "best in show, future technology" award in mid-November at the DigitalLife show in New York.

"It's a PC that moves, talks, sees, hears, senses and can physically react and respond to the environment it is placed in," according to White Box Robotics founder Thomas Burick.

Burick founded White Box Robotics in 2001. Its laboratory is in Pittsburgh, Penn. In mid-2005, White Box became a wholly owned subsidiary of Frontline Robotics, based in Ottawa, Canada.
