Philips Electronics' Lifeline features several alert devices that an elderly person can wear, ranging from a wristwatch to pendant. The senior can trigger the button when he or she has fallen or feels a heart attack approaching.
The alert button then sends a signal to a communicator device attached to a phone, which relays the information to a monitoring service. The service then speaks to the senior through the communicator devices and determines whether to send out an ambulance or a nearby, designated contact person.
