Digital modeling software enables contemporary architects to pay close attention to the energy efficiency of their building models. Crafting the components of kit, prefab and modular homes in streamlined factories can reduce the waste as compared with traditional building methods that source materials from far-flung locations. Either the ingredients of a kit, or a fully preassembled house, might be delivered on a single flatbed truck, as was the case with these parts for a CleverHome built in San Jose, Calif.
This shipment includes panels that were precision-cut in a factory to minimize waste. Although the components are prefabricated, the home itself is delivered and assembled somewhat like a traditional kit home. The company says its dwellings cost half as much in time and money to put up than a home stick-built from scratch.
