Other homeowners take matters into their own hands by giving new life to vintage prefabricated homes from the mid 20th century. Mikey Sklar and Wendy Tremayne bought a former RV park in Truth or Consequences, N.M. The established electrical and plumbing infrastructure enabled them to get a head start in greening the decades-old trailer home. They didn't like the original carpeted, wood-paneled kitchen, shown here before its makeover.
