Most companies experimenting with bioplastic to make electronics cases, utensils and other goods use corn, soy, or potatoes.
Bruce Brennan, on the other hand, was selling DVD episodes of The Hippy Gourmet PBS cooking show packaged in cases made of injection-mold plastic based from Australian hemp. Industrial hemp does not contain enough active psychoactive ingredients to be smoked, but it remains illegal in the United States, to the chagrin of seemingly the majority of people at SolFest. The crop is easy to grow and more beneficial to the soil than corn.
