Photos: A look inside the green, high-tech Genzyme Center

The building's roof is green. The vegetation absorbs rainwater and acts as an insulator. The plants on the roof were supposed to be maintenance-free, but somehow, some weeds (and grasshoppers) managed to find their way to the top of the 12-story building. The roof also houses a 20-kilowatt solar-photovoltaic array that generates electricity.
