This is a picture of AgriPower's test facility in Sacramento, Calif. The numbered parts of the 250-kilowatt test unit are:
1: Automated feed hopper
2: Combustion chamber
3: Heat exchanger
4: Control panel
5: Operating computer
6: Turbine generator
The incinerator vaporizes biomass that's fed into the feed hopper and can be used to make electricity or heat. It was originally designed for use in developing countries, but the idea is being tested in the United States as a way to reuse municipal waste as well.
