In late 2008, the California Academy of Sciences will open a new facility in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. The Academy, which will house Steinhart Aquarium, Morrison Planetarium and the Kimball Natural History Museum, will integrate "green" architecture, such as this expansive living rooftop, into the natural environment of Golden Gate Park.
The new facility, which had its groundbreaking in September 2005, was designed by architect Renzo Piano in conjunction with Chong Partners.
