Another Mondial Energy project is a solar thermal retrofit in a senior living center in Toronto, which contains 108 suites.
Because the building is in Canada, the solar thermal system can't provide all the hot water the residents need. But as the water is partially heated with solar energy, their natural gas bills go down.
Mondial is now working with hotels to possibly retrofit them for solar thermal. In these deals, Mondial installs the system and then resells the heating back to the building owner for a fixed price. The cost of the heat for the water is less than what the building owner would pay for gas.
