General Motors is bringing hydrogen fuel cell technology to its Chevrolet Volt concept car. At the Auto Shanghai show on Friday, GM CEO Rick Wagoner introduced a new variant of the E-Flex electric drive train that features fuel cell capabilities. The Volt debuted at the Detroit auto show in January.
GM says the new combination (version 2 of E-Flex, version 5 of the fuel cell technology) can deliver up to 300 miles of electric driving, with the power coming either from the fuel cell system or from the electric grid.
