A volcano erupts on the sea floor

A team of researchers from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration captured rare images of the eruption of an underwater volcano in the Mariana Arc, south of Guam.

The volcano, called NW Rota-1, was discovered in 2004 and has since been visited several times by international teams of explorers, according to NOAA.
