With Internet that’s up to 100 times faster than basic broadband, Google Fiber is extending its reach. Google announced today that it's talking with 34 more cities in nine metro areas of the United States about the possibility of installing a high-speed Internet setup.
Giving each city a checklist of things to do to make its areas ready for fiber, Google is working alongside the metro areas on the planning and construction of the data infrastructure.
Raleigh-Durham and the surrounding communities, including Carrborro, Cary, Chapel Hill, Garner, and Morrisville, make up one of the nine metro areas recently named by Google as potential locations for a Google Fiber high-speed internet expansion.
Provo, Utah, near Salt Lake City; Kansas City; and Austin, Texas, are the three cities that currently have Google Fiber networks.
