The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Tuesday announced the 2010 Oscar nominations.

While there were, for the first time, 10 nominees for best picture, as usual there were just three for visual effects.

Not surprisingly, "Avatar" was made the cut. The film's team from Weta Digital--Joe Letteri, Stephen Rosenbaum, Richard Baneham and Andrew Jones--was one of the three nominees.
