Shortly after the bridge is closed, workers begin cutting away on the sides of the steel section that's being moved to make way for the bypass. The crews doing this worked around the clock, and completely separated the section of the bridge in less than 24 hours.
Not everything was steel though. Workers had to break apart the huge section of the concrete slab, then get ready to repave the new section once it's in place.
