Plotting a path to renewable energy

As the U.S. looks to ramp up wind and solar power production, there have been conflicts over land use, as local groups oppose development of large-scale wind or solar farms. One way to choose locations well, using a national perspective, is a Google Earth application done with the National Resources Defense Council, a mapping mash-up that plots wind and solar resources with other data, such as endangered species status.
